Cellar Door wine sales

Wander around the Broke Fordwich region and discover a variety of wines ready to taste and enjoy.

With some 36 Vineyards, 20 wine brands and 10 cellar doors to visit  the wine lover is now spoilt for choice. Some of our cellar doors are open 7 days a week to welcome visitors to the area, others are owned by busy people running the vineyard on the weekend but returning to the Big City during the week, other still will open by appointment or have sales outlets in nearby Pokolbin as well as at the Broke Village Store.

As well as iconic Hunter Valley semillon, chardonnay and shiraz, the region looked to some new and emergng varieties - Sangiovese, Barbera, Dolcetto, Tempraniilo and more each year - so Broke Fordwich has something of interest for all wine lovers.  Visitors will be rewarded with the personal attention of vignerons and the sheer beauty and tranquility of the area. There are also several poineering organic and biodynamic vineyards in the region making their approach to winemakeing well worth a visit.

Hundreds of awards have been won by our wines in recent years.  Please see the awards roll of honour . This year the Broke Fordwich wines were awarded 4 Gold, 5 Silver and 14 Bronze medals at the hotly contested Hunter Valley Wine Show (held September 2010).

Grapes for wine production have been grown in the Broke Fordwich region for many years and the reputation and fame of many well known and established Hunter Valley brands such as Wyndham Estate, Lindemans, Tullochs, Pooles Rock & Oakvale all have drawn some of their supply of grapes from the Broke Fordwich sub-region.

The area has a range of soils from the gravelly sandy soils of the banks of Wollombi Brook - highly sought after for the minerally quality these soils give to white wines such as Semillon & Verdelho - to rich volcanic basalt soils producing the finest reds.

Harvest time in Broke is usually around February and into March.
