Innovative winemaking & pioneering styles
Broke Fordwich produces small batch, premium wines that reflect a unique terroir, making them some of the most sought-after wines of the region.
This exclusive region boasts estate grown wines with grapes grown almost exclusively from single vineyards and family owned and operated holdings. Some names you will have heard of, and some boutique beauties are waiting to be discovered. There are producers who have adopted sustainable farming, biodynamic, and organic practices as well as vegan friendly winemaking.
Follow the Broke Fordwich Wine Trail and meet the vignerons and winemakers who are part of this vibrant, progressive community. Taste your way through an array of award-winning wines and get your hands dirty with a range of experiences celebrating the vine to the wine.
The area has a long and proud history of grape growing dating back to the 1830’s. The first vineyards were planted by new settlers using cuttings from some of Europe’s finest vineyards, and the industry continues through to today qualifying the Hunter Valley as Australia’s oldest, continuous wine region.
Over recent decades, a new generation of grape growers and winemakers have introduced alternative grapes to grow alongside the cornerstone of traditional Hunter varieties, laying the foundations of innovative boutique winemaking and a future of dynamic wine tourism. Book a wine flight, join a masterclass or immerse yourself in the wine industry with a vineyard or winery tour.
